Transportation
Transportation delays are degrading the quality of life and choking economic growth in Northern Virginia. Solutions require funding and take time to implement. Boosting our large local economy would help the whole state, but transportation resources are not even proportionally allocated to Northern Virginia. We need to sustain and increase our efforts for transportation improvements on both an urgent and long term basis.
As your State Senator I will fight to see that happen. For starters,
- I will work to change the current transportation funding practices that allocate too few resources to Northern Virginia. This includes getting at least a fair share of State funding, more federal funding, and toll road sponsorship where necessary
- I will sponsor efforts to promote internet-based work programs that would lessen traffic on the road
- I will reach out to our biggest employers, which are the Federal Government and Information Technology industries, to make common cause in helping get their employees to work more safely and quickly
- I will work to expand metro-rail to Dulles and expand mass transit programs, to enable faster economic growth and a better standard of living
- I will support the use of public-private partnerships that promote efficient, intelligent, environmentally low impact transportation systems.
